As a parent, losing a child is always that horror that grips on. As a mother, I noted her memories were not of a kind and loving nature which is off. My daughter passed from a brain tumour and I definitely do not hold on to the unhappy memories.
The shock was the phone call saying she had a part in his disappearance… yet the most horrific part was that it wasn’t really a shock based on her memories.
The questions I have are many:
Did you actually do something wrong, or is she feeling guilt about the way she treated him?
Is this some sort of ruse whereby she is mentally pushed over the edge? She’s been standing at this whole time?
Wow, thank you so much for your thorough response and I'm so sorry for your loss.
To answer your questions, I was aiming to imply that the mother murdered the little boy although the guilt she feels is what has made her react the way she does all these years later. And yes, it is her son.
I'm glad you picked up on the fact that her memories were off...I was going to create a sense of uneasiness with the mother from the start.
It was a fun one to write, and certainly has me in the mood for more spooky season content! I'd love to collaborate. Here's my email: maceyoftheworld@gmail.com
Well you certainly have my attention!
I'm glad to hear it! What part stood out to you in particular?

Thanks again for your thoughtful response!
I think you are a fantastic writer and I look forward to more of your conjurings! ;)
A wonderfully bleak piece to start off the spooky season and a great illustration to match. Excellently done
Thank you! And yes, Patricia did a great job with the illustration!
That set the tone for the season, and the week! Excellent and I’d like to collaborate!

Emailing you now, and thank you!
There’s such an eerie tone throughout this piece, I really enjoyed it!
Thank you! I went into it hoping for a general sense of unease. Glad it's coming through!
This was so much fun to do! You wrote a great story that had a great twist.
It was so fun to work together :)
We'll definitely have to do it again in the future.
Agree!
